Ben LaBerge - Work Report for Reporting and Writing II (1/13/14)
Project: Interviewing three working journalists about their work experiences and what they feel are important factors, qualities, and experiences in order for new journalists to have in order to be successful in their future careers.
Progress: I've contacted three working journalists in three different fields in order to get a wide range of response to the questions posed. I've contacted Hallie Rogers, a reporter for Perfect Duluth Day, John Lundy, a reporter for the Duluth News Tribune, and Ben Reeves, an associate editor at Game Informer magazine. As of yet, I've not received word back from them on confirmation or denial of a possible interview but I'm confident that they will find the time to talk to me.
Plans: They bulk of the work still needs to be done. In the interviews, I hope to ask each of them what they did to prepare for their jobs, how they eventually landed their positions, and what kinds of skills or experiences they wish they'd had before getting that job in addition to any other qualities they believe a new journalist should have before pursuing the career. Then all I need to do is write the article and submit it for review (and that is the easy part for me).
